ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A couple of South Georgia mayors attended a forum at the Albany Civil Rights Institute to enlighten the public on how city governments run, Thursday.

Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and Baconton Mayor Annette Morman talked about the important role of city government.

The Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church Youth Choir was there.

Mayor Hubbard said the event was a good time to encourage young people to look into city government.

"It's important for them to know it in case they become elected officials and just so they can be good citizens. I think this is a beginning for them to be good citizens," said Mayor Hubbard.

Ward 3 Albany City Commissioner Christopher Pike was also there to let people know his role in city government.
