JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

It was a graduation day that one Minor High School senior will not forget.

Graduates and their parents packed Faith Chapel for graduation Thursday. One of those waiting for her name to called was Somer Waldrop. After finally getting her diploma, Somer got the surprise of her life. Somer's older brother Trevor, who has just returned from Afghanistan, appeared at the stage.

"I wasn't sure I was going to make it back to my sister's graduation. We faced some hardships while we were on deployment. This is the best way I could say I support her," Waldrop said.

To the Waldrop family members who were in on the surprise it was a special moment.

"It was worth a million. I wouldn't give anything for that. I knew she wanted to see him. They were close. He had been planning this for seven months," Phoebe Waldrop, mother of Somer and Trevor, said.

Somer admitted it was a graduation she will never forget.

"I was so excited to see him. I haven't seen him forever. I miss my brother so much. I'm so glad he's back," she said.

After this special moment the Waldrops are looking to spend more time together.
