Americus residents remember 2007 tornado

A lot of South Georgians are all too familiar with the damage a tornado can do.

An EF-3 tornado roared through Americus six years ago.

It killed two people and destroyed Sumter Regional Hospital and damaged dozens of homes and businesses.

One Americus tornado survivor has some advice for people in Oklahoma.

"There's always hope. Just keep your head up. Keep a positive outlook about things and everything will work out for the best," said Matthew Shaw.

Continue to follow and watch Today in Georgia Tuesday morning starting at 5 for the latest on the Oklahoma tragedy.
