A Lowndes County man is behind bars after deputies uncovered nearly half a million dollars of marijuana.
Deputies responded to a complaint at Jose Sanchez's house on Highway 129 North Friday. Authorities say when they responded they smelled marijuana, obtained a search warrant and found an outbuilding behind the house, where Sanchez was growing marijuana.
Officials say they found 38 plants and finished marijuana, weighing a total of 83 pounds. Deputies also found two firearms, along with the tools used to make marijuana.
Sanchez was booked into the Lowndes County jail on charges of Trafficking marijuana, Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession of Tools used in the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
