AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

If you're a daredevil, there's some excitement for you in Americus.

A group of about 60 competitors are there for The Flytec Americus Cup.

Friday was the first day of the Hang Gliding competition that will last 9 more days.

The hang gliders race around a course at Souther field.

"It's really much more relaxing that you think. It the closest to flying like a bird. So it's a lot more relaxing up there than you would ever expect it. Very quiet and peaceful. We love it," said Jamie Shelden.

The public is invited to watch the competition and anyone can fly with a certified instructor.

Take-offs begin at Noon and end around 2 P.M.
