VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta Police Department awarded Airmen with Moody Air Force Base for their help during a bomb threat at Valdosta High School.

Chief Brian Childress presented eight airmen and their bomb sniffing dogs with challenge coins. German shepherds Ronnie, Hal, And Lola along with the airmen helped VPD search the school on April 24th.

The threat was a hoax, and officials traced the call back to 20-year-old Kahlil Furman-Berrian who was later arrested.

"Not only do we deploy them overseas and they're out there defending our country. But when they're here they're defending our local community," said Chief Brian Childress.

Chief Childress says he's thankful for Moody always responding to help Valdosta Police and other agencies when they need backup.
