Jury deadlocks in rape trial

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Lawrence Brown, 55, will be retried after his jury could not reach a verdict in his rape and false imprisonment trial Friday afternoon. 

D.A. Greg Edwards says he will re-try Brown, who was taken back to jail.

He was charged with raping a 67-year-old Albany woman at knife point in 2011.

    Coffee County deputies conducted a traffic stop on 31-year-old John Thomas Highsmith Saturday afternoon just after 3:00 p.m. on the Willacoochee Highway. Highsmith ran through a stop sign, barely avoiding a multi-vehicle collision.
