Renovations on an historic south Georgia courthouse are finally coming to an end.
The 155-year old Thomas County Courthouse should be back open for business next month.
SPLOST money was set aside a few years ago to modernize the building and bring it up to code.
County commissioners say, while it's now more advanced, the courthouse maintains its classic look.
"On the first floor there was some very narrow steps and of course those have been eliminated and we have a very beautiful staircase in their now. Plus we have two elevators. This will make a difference," said County Commission Chair Elaine Mays.
The date for an open house will be announced at the May 28th County Commission Meeting.
