ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The city of Albany will showcase some of the city's businesses in celebration of national small business week.

The downtown manager said next week the city will feature restaurants and shops through social media as part of an ongoing effort to promote local businesses.

He also encouraged small business owners to take advantage of services the University of Georgia extension Service offers them year-round.

"They do a series of different workshops throughout the year...so some of them are how to speak in public, some of them are how to get government contracts, some of them are business plan related," said Aaron Blair, Downtown Manager. "So there's a series of small things available throughout the year for small business owners."

Blair said the downtown district tries to help small businesses learn how to market themselves better.
