(RNN) - Josh Saviano, who played Paul on The Wonder Years, wants you to know he's not Marilyn Manson.
It's one of the oldest rumors on the internet.
And because everything you read on the internet is true, many have long thought Paul, Kevin Arnold's best friend on the show, and the dark rocker were one and the same.
"I think it actually was one of the first internet rumors," he said in a new interview with Yahoo!, one of his rare appearances since the show ended. "It was 1994, the internet was just sort of becoming mainstream, particularly in college campuses and I think it was just perfect timing and the perfect storm."
Saviano says Danica McKellar, who played Winnee Cooper on the show, first told him about the rumor.
"I had no idea who he was at the time," he said. "It became a progressively more entertaining storyline with me and my friends at school."
Saviano says he tried to arrange a meet-up with Manson when he was touring in Connecticut, where Saviano went to college, but "somehow it just never came to fruition, and I still kind of like the fact that we never did that because 20 years later … it's still out there."
Through the years, Saviano has been rumored to be Manson, Lady Gaga and Patrick Carney, drummer for The Black Keys.
However, 20 years after the show ended, Saviano is now a husband, father and a corporate attorney in New York.
"I have no musical ability whatsoever," he said. "All these things are beyond my skill set, so I love it."
