Bowling tournament raises money for officers

Albany area law enforcers enjoyed a little friendly competition to help each other, Tuesday night.

The Albany Police Department organized its first law enforcement bowling tournament.

Officers, their family members, friends and other local government workers competed at All American Fun Park.

They had a good time, but they also honored fallen officers.

"It's law enforcement memorial week. It's a time we put aside when we honor those fallen officers who have died in the line of duty. It's a way to remember those officers, and also remember each and every day how many officers hit the streets on a daily basis putting their lives on the line," said Phyllis Banks with APD.

The money raised from Tuesday's event will be used for community oriented policing programs and to help officers when they go through financial trouble.
