An Albany City Commissioner helps inspire a group of people who deal with the same challenges as he does.
Tuesday evening, Commissioner Ivey Hines was the guest speaker at the Albany ARC peer support meeting.
Hines is visually impaired.
He spoke to a group of blind and disabled Albany residents about city transportation, safety and city resources for people with disabilities.
He also shared a personal message.
"Only people can handicap you. People prevent you from doing those things that you can do to help yourself in life. If you have the right people in your front seat or in your front row in a theater, you can do whatever it is you choose in life," said Hines.
