ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office will offer a summer kid's camp again this year.

The Sheriff urges parents to enroll their children in his "Champs Program" to keep them safe from crime.

The camp is open to kids 8 to 13 years old, 5-days a week from May 28th to July 2nd.

The camp costs $35 per week.

Deputies say it helps parents know kids are safe and learning important life lessons.

"Kids choosing healthy activities," said Dougherty County Sheriff's Office Lt. Terron Hayes. "Staying away from drugs, staying away from gangs. The dangers of alcohol, and marijuana. Because these things are very prevalent in our community, and they are affecting our kids day to day."

There will be an open registration for the Champs Program Camp May 25th from 9AM to 1PM in front of the courthouse.

You can also register by calling 431-3243.
