UPDATE: 3 arrested in early morning smash and grabs

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

R.L. Davis, 20, Anthony Dawson, 17, and Nicholas Davis, 20 have been charged by APD with Burglary in reference to the Express Lane break this morning.

In addition, Kevin Robinson, 22, has been charged with False Report of Crime.

Dougherty County Police responded to the first burglary around 3:00 am at a Stop and Shop on Cordele Road where the door was smashed with a cylinder block.

Police say the suspects only swiped lottery tickets there before they fled in a white sedan after a resident heard the crash of the glass breaking and turned on the lights in her home.

Albany Police then responded about an hour later at a Liberty convenience store on Gillionville where the front door had also been smashed with a large rock.

Police spotted and followed a white Chevrolet Malibu leaving the area and driving south on Lockette Station.

APD says when the suspects realized they were being followed, they pulled off at the intersection of Lockette Station and West Oakridge Road where they fled on foot into a wooded area.

One man was initially apprehended by DCP and transported to their department to be questioned for the burglaries. The other two were taken into custody about an hour later and are now being questioned at the Law Enforcement Center.

The White Chevrolet Malibu was towed and a cartons of cigarettes and other evidence was recovered.
