Stamp Out Hunger food drive shatters goals

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Second Harvest Food Bank calls the 19th Annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive a great success.

Postal customers in the Albany area left more than 89,000 pounds of food next to their mailboxes Saturday.

That's more than two tractor trailer loads and about 11,000 pounds more than last year's total.

The Valdosta area total was up 30,000 pounds to 130,000.

The Food Bank says the total should increase in the coming days as people continue to put food out for their letter carriers pick up.
