ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Every year the City of Albany comes up with a different way to attract visitors to The Good Life City. This year they are working with area hotels and golf courses.

The city of Albany is coming off a busy and strong National Tourism Week.

And the city is moving on to the next new venture. The Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau want to continue to promote tourism in the city. Two area hotels and two golf courses are partnering to bring special golf packages to tourists.

"Just about everybody like to play golf. It's a family sport, individual and can be a corporate sport. So I think that's a great thing," said Roy Snead, Manager of Flint River Golf Course.

Best Western Hotel and County Inn Suites will offer the discounted golf rates at Flint River and River Pointe Golf Courses. The city says this is a great way to showcase "The Good Life City" and other area attractions.

"We're offering something a little bit different. Just don't come stay in our hotels, but go out and enjoy our communities as well," said Jenny Collins with the Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Hotel managers say everyone involved in the partnership jumped at the idea to help boost revenue for their businesses and the city.

With summer and vacation time coming up, packages like these will have lasting benefits for the city.

"There are some short term benefits as well. I'm in town for a few days. I don't have time to look for a golf course, here we got a package for you, go here," said Roy Snead.

After the first year, the hotels and golf courses will revisit the idea of the partnership to decide if they want to continue running the golf specials.

The hotel and golf packages will run through the end of the year. Visitors will have to contact the participating hotels to get the discounted rates.
