CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Cordele police are looking for a group of thieves who broke into two pharmacies.

They hit one of the stores twice in one week.

With the help of a blunt object, thieves were able to bust out the front door to Adams Pharmacy on 16th Avenue early Thursday morning of last week.

They took around $200 worth of prescription drugs, but police say they didn't stop there.

Just days later on Sunday morning, the crooks smashed the front door at Adams Pharmacy again, only this time they made off with more drugs.

"Just threw an item through a window and then stole quite a bit more prescription drugs, about $1300-$1400 worth of prescription drugs," said Detective Andrew Roufs with the Cordele Police Department.

Police believe the same group also smashed the front Door at the U-Save It Pharmacy on 5th Avenue on Sunday as well, but say that may have been a diversion as the burglars hit Adams.

There was nothing taken from the U-Save It location.

"If they don't know the amount that their taking it can definitely knock them out for a while and I could be fatal if they take enough," said Det. Roufs.

Now detectives want to find these men, hopefully before those drugs are sold and seriously hurt whoever takes them.

"They're prescription drugs that don't need to be out unless you have a prescription and people are obviously going to be taking them outside of the prescribed reasons. I can be detrimental to someone's health if they're taking drugs they're not supposed to be taking," said Det. Roufs.

Police are following leads but want you take a good look at one suspect's blue hoody, it may play a key role in cracking this case.

"If anyone knows anything about the burglars or the medicine being sold on the street, that isn't normal to be sold outside of a drug store they need to contact the police department," said Det. Roufs.

Cordele detectives ask you to call them if you recognize those burglars or if you know of someone selling prescription drugs. That number is 273-3102.
