Four teens accused of burglarizing multiple homes

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Four Valdosta teenagers are in jail tonight accused of breaking into multiple homes in Valdosta and Lowndes County.

Investigators say they caught the suspects at a vacant home where they were storing the stolen property.

Demarcus Evans, Balewa Ferguson, Bruce Brown and a juvenile, were arrested yesterday after their car was spotted at this vacant home in Valdosta. Police issued a lookout for the car weeks ago after it was seen leaving a burglary. When police found it yesterday the four teenagers were inside and ran from police. They were caught shortly after.

"They knew it was vacant apparently, and they were using it to store the property," said Lt. Aaron Kirk, Valdosta Police Department.

All of this property was stolen from Lowndes County homes. In the past 2 weeks, the sheriff's office has investigated ten daytime home burglaries. So far, they've been able to tie the teens to four of them. The four are suspected of burglarizing a home Wednesday morning not long before they were caught.

"Based on some items that were found in the car we located another burglary that had just occurred in the county," said investigator Christi Griffin, Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

But the teens had even more loot hidden elsewhere.

Investigators say they had rented out a motel room at the Azalea Inn where they had been storing a lot of the stolen property.

As investigators continue to sort through all of the property they expect to charge the teens with more burglaries in the county and the city. So far they've been charged with theft by receiving stolen property.

Investigators are working to return all of the stolen property to the rightful owners.

The juvenile is being held at the regional youth detention center. The other three are booked in the Lowndes county jail.
