ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

One woman's trash is another women's treasure, you know the old saying.

The designer bags auctioned off at the Bag Lady Luncheon were anything but trash.

Thursday afternoon at Chehaw Park, used bags were donated by the community to be auctioned off in a silent auction to raise money for Girls Inc.

Due to the cause of the event, support organizers say this was a great reason to buy a new bag.

"A lot of really unique finds, great gifts for Mother's Day and the graduations that are coming up. So ladies can come and just shop because they need a bag for Tuesday so for any reason it is a great day to come and buy a hand bag," stated Sherrell Alexander Executive Director, Girls Inc.

Organizers estimate that the Bag Lady Luncheon raised five thousand dollars.

We hope to get a final total when it is available.
