ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

According to the National Drought Mitigation Center, the drought for Southwest Georgia is officially over.

Due to recent heavy rain fall and cooler temperatures, the National Drought Mitigation Center has now said that Southwest Georgia is not in a drought condition of any sort.

We were previously classified from D0, abnormally dry, to D2, which means a severe drought.

Only two Georgia counties, Glynn and McIntosh, remain in the D0, abnormally dry category, because they did not see nearly as much rain fall as the rest of the state from the last weather system.

As we approach the summer months, the long range forecasts show Georgia in a normal weather pattern as far as rain fall amounts.

Southwest Georgia's summers normally consist of frequent  isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
