Information from the Valdosta Police Department-

On May 9, 2013, at approximately 10:30 am,  Tearrance Demond Wrice, a 17 year old Valdosta resident was arrested on four felony charges.

Wrice is a Junior at Valdosta High School.  On this date, Wrice was inside the school when a VHS coach spoke to him about smelling smoke on his person.  Wrice voluntarily emptied his pockets when questioned by the coach and a pocket knife was located in one of Wrice's pockets.

A subsequent search of Wrice's book bag produced a Co2 style BB Pistol which resembled a Walther 9mm handgun.  Wrice advised the coach the gun was a BB gun but then grabbed the gun and ran out of the school onto the football practice field area with the BB gun in his possession.

Wrice continued to flee the area with a VHS coach and two school resources officers in pursuit.  Wrice was detained in the median of the roadway at the intersection of Perimeter Road and N. Forrest Street.  The BB gun was not discharged and no injuries were reported.

Wrice has been charged with the following four felonies:

Two Counts of Possession of a Weapon on School Property (Knife and BB gun)

1 Count of Disruption of Public School

1 Count of Possession of Marijuana on School Property

Wrice is currently  being held at the Lowndes County Jail pending a court appearance.
