Chick-Fil-A opens in Lee County

LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

One new restaurant is open for business in Lee county Thursday and 100 folks walked away winners of free food.

Chick-Fil-A's doors opened at 6 AM at Lee Crossings and campers who spent 24-hours there won certificates for free meals for a year, a shirt and hat.

There were over 170 people there to participate and spend time with friends as the lined open at 6am Wednesday morning.

"My favorite part would be the friends that I see from time to time, like a gathering of those relatives that you really like at a family reunion and when you have a reunion, only those relatives come. That's what this is like every time," said Shelton Nicholson, "First 100" Chick-Fil-A participant.

It is Chick-Fil-A's 10th anniversary after the first "First 100" grand opening event in Arizona in 2003.

Folks drive all over the US just to get their hands on the 52 certificates for a free chicken sandwich, waffle fry and drink.

"Probably the 16th one I've done. So it's a lot of fun. You make a whole lot of friends that I see from time to time. So, it's always pretty cool," said Nicholson.

A raffle was held to decide the 100 that would stay in the parking lot and camp out.

Customers can now eat here from 6am to 10pm Monday through Saturday.
