Thomas Co. Agents make 'significant' crack bust

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A suspected crack cocaine dealer is in the Thomas County jail after he was caught with just under the amount of the drug that would have brought a trafficking charge.

Narcotics agents got a tip that 35-year old Jamal Hayes would be driving to the Walcott and Clay Street area with a large amount of cocaine.

His Honda Accord was spotted on the corner of East Merrill and Crawford Streets in Thomasville.

During a traffic stop, agents found 26 grams of crack and a small amount of marijuana.

"Yea that would have been a dealer to another dealer amount. That's not an amount that he would have been selling to a user. He would have been selling that to another dealer. So that is a significant amount," said Narcotics Commander Kevin Lee.

Hayes is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
