ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany teen is selected to attend a national youth Leadership Forum in Washington D.C.

16 year-old Seiviven Jenkins from Monroe high school was chosen from the nation's top R-O-T-C students.

The selected demonstrate strong leadership and academic success. During the summit, they'll get an in-depth look into National Security careers.

Jenkins found out he'd been chosen through his grandmother.

"When she got the notice, she called me when I got out of practice...when I got out of football practice, she told me that I had a letter and it was about how I was selected for this," said Jenkins.

Jenkins said he's excited to hear more about working in the national security field, and hopes to attend the U. S. Air Force Academy and become a Combat Control Officer

The trip costs $2,000, and he's trying to raise money to pay for it.

Anyone wanting to help him out can contact the principal at Monroe High School.
