THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Volunteers from Florida are in south Georgia this week to give out prizes and help reduce the crime rate.

Thomas County's Freedom Fest is organized by a non-denominational tent ministry which travels across the country.

Tuesday morning, volunteers were at the corner of Fern and Wright Streets talking to folks about staying out of trouble.

Each night, they'll provide entertainment, scholarships, and other giveaways.

"We're giving away thousands of dollars in prizes, gifts. We are helping people with their bills. We are giving away cars, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, we are giving away groceries just to be a blessing to the city of Thomasville," said Freedom Fest Pastor Daniel McGehee.

Freedom Fest runs every night this week at Cherokee Lake starting at 6:30.
