ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police are looking for unusual burglar--  who wore a fur coat. He broke into an east Albany drug store, but he wasn't after drugs.

The smash and grab thief snagged cigarettes, and police hope what he was wearing attracted some attention.

Our camera was rolling just moments after officers arrived at the Rite Aid on Sylvester Road. Just minutes earlier the store had been targeted by a smash and grab burglar.

"What we know thus far is that a black male wearing what officers described as a fur coat used an unknown object to break the front windows," said APD's Phyllis Banks.

Glass from the sliding doors littered the store front. It was inside where the burglar went after not pharmaceutical drugs, but another hot black market item. "He took some cigarettes from the business. He then proceeded to flee the scene on a bicycle heading south behind Hardee's," said Banks.

The fur coat wearing burglar was capture on surveillance camera. Right now detectives are reviewing that footage. But with the break-in happening in daylight, police hope someone may have seen him.

"We're asking anyone who may have been in the area around that time if you noticed anything strange, particularly someone riding a bicycle with a fur coat on, call CrimeStoppers or Albany Police."

No word on the dollar amount in damage the crook caused, but a costly crime all for a few packs of smokes. Police also warn anyone who buys cigarettes off the burglar could also be charged with a crime.
