One of Albany's most dynamic basketball players over the last four years is taking a different route to college basketball. Monroe high star Jabari McGhee says he'll be heading to Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia to work on his shooting before attending Auburn in 2014.
McGhee played the power forward position in high school but says his 6'6 frame is better suited to play either shooting guard or small forward in college but he needs to work on his outside game before heading to a four year school.
He says the Hargrave coaching staff specializes in improving skills for college prospects, the academy is where several professional athletes go to train.
He also says they'll make him a better shooting threat at Auburn. Playing for a D-I school is just one of his goals in what will be a busy couple of months coming up.
"I mean the first thing is graduating. Thank God for that and then I just want to go to this skills academy head on. Just go in there and do what I have to do so I can go ahead and make the necessary steps to get where I want to go in life."
McGhee has only verbally committed to Auburn. He says several of his AAU teammates also play with the Tigers.
