ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty County Kiwanis club encouraged creativity in youth with their annual award ceremony held on Monday.

They honored winners of the district art contest along with their art instructors. The award-winning artwork was displayed at the luncheon.

Some pieces went on to compete on a higher level.

"We have eight pieces that went to state, and we had some great results at state this year," said competition chair Ann Owen.

This is the 33rd year the Kiwanis club has held the art competition. It's open to students in grades 6 through twelve.
