TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

A Tifton woman remains jailed in a medical facility charged with trying to run down two U S Marshals with her car.

She was shot during the wild incident at Tift Regional Hospital. Now she and her boyfriend are facing serious charges. It was a wild scene Friday in the parking of Tift Regional Medical Center.

A U S Marshal take down that ended with shots fired. They were looking for 29-year-old Shorofsky Horton when they spotted him near the hospital.

"While they were attempting to serve those arrests warrants on him, he was in a vehicle with Matanya Miller. She attempted to leave the scene, and in doing so, she struck two of the US Marshals," said GBI Assistant Special Agent Mark Pro. One of the marshals opened fire at the moving car.

Miller was struck in the hand with bullet fragments and required surgery. "Both the marshals were treated and released. Matanya Miller was treated and released the next day. She was transported to Lowndes County where they have a nurse on a 24-hour basis," Pro said.

Right now Miller is charged with two counts of aggravated assault on an officer. Horton is charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery in connection with the shooting of a Tift County convenience store on south Central street near Interstate 75 on April 26th. Right now the GBI is investigating the marshal involved shooting which led to a temporary lockdown of the hospital.

"We do have surveillance video and agents are reviewing that at this time."

That along with witnesses will determine if the shooting was justifiable. Right now agents say they've see nothing out of the ordinary. The FBI is also reviewing the case to determine if federal charges will be filed against Matanya Miller for assaulting the U S Marshals.

Ahead of heavy rain showers and winds projected for our area, the Georgia State Patrol said there's not as many travelers on the roads during this holiday weekend.  "So far I think this attributed to the weather and gas prices being so high, it seems that in our area of the state, traffic has been down some," said Trooper Christopher Jewell, GSP Post 40.
