THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomasville armed robbery suspect is in jail following a second robbery at a drug store in less than a week.

Investigators say 52-year old Darryl Maxey walked into the Rite Aid Saturday afternoon and demanded cash.

Another man robbed the store last Tuesday.

Investigators say Maxey did not show a gun, but told the clerk he had one.

Just a few minutes after Maxey walked out of the store, a tip came in to the police department about a suspicious man running down Magnolia Street.

"This is a perfect example of how the community can help us. Someone did call and state that there was a suspicious person in the area. Officers got in the area and were able to apprehend the suspect very quickly," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

Maxey took $200, but police recovered all the money.

Police say they'll increase their patrols in the area because of an increase in the number of robberies.

Maxey was denied bond.
