Multiple injuries, one dead in Brooks County crash

BROOKS CO., GA (WALB) -

A crash in Brooks County has left eight people injured and one person dead.

It happened just before 5:30pm Saturday. Troopers say 56 year-old Erving Rogers of Brooks County was driving a white Ford Focus north on Highway 133, just south of Cates Road, when he rear ended another car, which was stopped, getting ready to turn left into a driveway.

Troopers say 49 year-old Raychelle Gaston, of Pensacola, Florida was in the backseat of that car and was killed.

Rogers is charged with DUI and vehicular homicide.  He's still in a Valdosta hospital and will be transported to the Brooks County jail.

Troopers say the other injuries are minor. The crash is still under investigation.
