National Tourism week started Saturday and Albany businesses are already seeing the effects.
This has been the strongest week for BJ's Country Buffet. Events like Albany State's graduation and the GISA state track meet have brought more people into town, helping area businesses.
BJ Fletcher says rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn are already booked up for the month of May for the upcoming GHSA state track meet and other events. She says Albany tourism week means more pride for the city.
"Between Attica downtown and the Welcome center and all the publicity that we get, I think it's only going to get stronger. People know about Albany, Georgia. They love Albany, Georgia and it's going to get better and better each year," said BJ Fletcher.
This week marks the 30th year for tourism week here in Albany.
