ASU grads ready for job force

Graduation day has finally come and graduates have spent the last few years of their lives working towards their degree. For many of these college grads, it's time to enter into the workforce.

Entering the competitive job market doesn't seem to bother Jasmine Shavers. She's ready to face it head on.

"I'm a competitor, I'm on the same level as everyone else that's competing so why not. I'm being optimistic about everything. I'm definitely going to find me a job," said Jasmine Shavers.

But not all of the grads will go to work right away. Some say they fear they may be looking for awhile to land a job. Others say they're continuing their education in hopes of giving them more career choices. The commencement speaker told the graduates to use their passion and skills for a better future. One graduating senior is already taking that advice.

"It's just one step in the long process in my education. I plan to go to grad school afterwards. I had some good advisors along the way that instructed me to follow not where the money is, but what I find passionate," said Justin Holden.

Georgia's unemployment numbers stand at 8.4 percent. That number is slowly improving and graduates say their education was worth it and it will give them an advantage in the future.

"It was long. I wouldn't say it's the easiest route, but it's honestly the best. I believe my education is like none other," said Jasmine Shavers.

All the graduates in this room may have different dreams, but the one thing they may have in common is they're all ready for what's next in life.

347 students walked away with a diploma in hand from Albany State University. 65 of those students received Master degrees.
