CAMILLA, GA (WALB) -

Some of the south Georgia's most annoying pests will be celebrated this weekend in downtown Camilla.

The 26th Gnat days celebration kicks of Friday night with a 5-K walk at 7pm. Events tomorrow start at 8am, featuring food vendors, local artists, a bike ride for kids, and music. Organizers expect up to 3,000 people to be there.

"And it's for the families old and young alike to come," said Ginger Kimmel, Chairperson. "Normally we have them bring their chairs, bring their blankets or whatever it is downtown. Since we will be having it near the Chamber, we will probably have some chairs set up here for people to sit and enjoy the music as well as having a dance floor."

Special T-shirts featuring Gnat Days logos designed by children will be available for 15-dollars. Kimmel said the weather will likely push the Under the Oaks dance inside. Cool temperatures may also keep some of the gnats away.

Admission is free.
