Georgians warned about Atlanta carjackings

Atlanta Police are warning motorists about a series of carjackings, where the robbers are bumping vehicles in traffic.

Atlanta Police have seen at least three carjackings like that this week. Investigators say a driver will intentionally bump another vehicle from behind. When the driver steps out to check the damage, they are robbed at gunpoint.

South Georgia law enforcers say there are ways to protect yourself if you feel threatened.

Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul said "I would urge the citizens to stay in their vehicle, and dial the police. Dial the local police authorities and have them come out and investigate the accident. Keep your vehicle locked while you are in your vehicle."

No South Georgia law enforcement agencies we talked to Friday have investigated any similar carjackings.
