LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

The threat of bad weather is postponing a Special Olympics competition in South Georgia.

The event was set for this Saturday in Lee County, but it will be pushed back to May 18th, 2013.

The competition will run from 10:30 AM until 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the Butterfly Kisses Play Park in Leesburg.

"Because we don't want to mess up the field or we don't want people to not attend because it might pour down raining," explained Lee County Sheriff Reggie D. Rachals

Sheriff Rachals also expressed his appreciation for everyone who worked to make the event possible and he hopes they'll channel their efforts into the new date.
