DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -

The Dougherty Circuit Bar Association participated in the national celebration of Law Day Wednesday.

The annual observance emphasizes the importance of law in our society. This year's theme is realizing the dream, equality for all.

Wednesday afternoon Dougherty Circuit Superior Court Judge Willie Lockett led several attorneys in their oath renewal on the courthouse steps.  "It's just a way of reminding us and recommitting ourselves to those ideals and those values that we so enthusiastically embrace when we were initially sworn in as lawyers," said Lockett.

Lockette says it's important to recognize the role that legal professionals play in ensuring that every citizen gets equal treatment.
