ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man is charged with a series of church break-ins in East Dougherty County.

Police say when he broke into one church for the second time in three days, surveillance cameras caught him in the act.

Dougherty County Police say that 25-year-old William Hutto is the man sneaking up behind Albany Baptist Church on Sylvester Road Tuesday night.

There's a good close-up as the burglar forces open the back door. Police say Hutto broke open several doors and stole coins and a safe containing church documents. They believe Hutto also broke into the church Monday. Church leaders are glad new cameras helped catch the suspect.

"Yes we are. We are going to be upgrading our security systems. So if anything ever happens like this again, hopefully we'll be able to put that individual away," said Bobby Robinson an Albany Baptist Church officer.

Dougherty County Police arrested Hutto in Mitchell County Wednesday afternoon and charged him with burglarizing three churches in the east part of the county in the last two weeks.
