Thanks in part to the dissolution of Albany-based Quail Unlimited, another quail conservation group is now bigger than ever.
Quail Forever announced Tuesday it has reached a membership record of more than 10,216.
In the last six months, the group added 22 new chapters, including one in Albany.
Quail Unlimited shut down in February, unable to overcome debt built up under previous management.
QU leaders encouraged their former members to join Quail Forever, and Albany became the southeast headquarters of that group.
