Home prices starting to rise

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The housing market is finally rebounding.

Home prices just made their biggest jump in nearly seven years

New numbers show prices in the country's 20 biggest cities rose 9.3% from February 2012 to this year.

Atlanta had the third highest increase, more than 16%.

One South Georgia realtor says home prices and sales are picking up in the Albany area as well.

"The foreclosured houses are being bought up in our immediate area. We're finding investors are mostly buying. As those houses are being bought off the market, those that want to buy a house are left with what's left and that makes the prices go up," said 1 Key Realtor Jackie Dixon.

Dixon says as the housing market stabilizes, it's still a buyer's market.
