Berrien investigators look for tombstone vandals

BERRIEN CO., GA (WALB) -

Berrien County Sheriff's Investigators are working to find out who vandalized headstones in a cemetery, and they're offering a reward to anyone with information.

Investigators say someone poured motor oil on two headstones in the Long Bridge Cemetery. When the caretaker tried to clean them, it permanently stained the stone, causing almost $3,000 in damages. Investigators believe the two headstones were targeted but have not yet found a connection between the deceased.

"It's very senseless and that's one of the reasons why Sheriff Heath is offering a $1,500 reward to catch the people responsible for this senseless act," said Investigator Len Moore, Berrien County Sheriff's Office.

If you have any information on the vandalism of these headstones, Berrien County Sheriff's investigators ask you to call them at 229-686-7071.
