GRADY COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Grady County's new Superintendent of Schools tells us he's excited to be a leader in his hometown.

The Grady Board of Education unanimously picked Lee Bailey as their new Superintendent.

Bailey is currently an Assistant Superintendent in Thomas County.

He grew up in Cairo, graduated from Cairo High School, and taught in the city for several years.

"Very excited. It was a great honor. I've lived in Cairo all my life so the chance to go back home is a good opportunity for me. I'm excited about coming," said Bailey.

Bailey will succeed Tommy Pharis who is retiring at the end of this school year.
