Wife of slain Ft. Benning sergeant arrested, boyfriend wanted

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Sheriff Heath Taylor says they have arrested Gloria Wilson, wife of slain Ft. Benning sergeant Donald Wilson, and are searching for her boyfriend Travis Leonard for questioning in connection to her husband's murder.

Gloria was arrested at the Sheriff's department at about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

News Leader 9's Roslyn Giles was the only reporter on the scene.

Taylor says they believe the shooting death centers around a love triangle with a financial motivation to kill Donald Wilson, a platoon leader in the 3rd Brigade. 

Donald Wilson's body was found with multiple gunshot wounds early Monday morning. 

At this time, detectives are combing the inside of the house with Gloria inside.  Gloria arrived in an unmarked vehicle. A detective was driving while Gloria was on the passenger side. 

They rolled the vehicle into the garage and closed the door before she entered the home.

It is believed she is helping detectives search the home for evidence.  Meanwhile, neighbors say they are stunned. 

Bilitta Robinson lives directly across the street from the Wilsons.

"We just saw them going in and out. We would laugh at the gentlemen at how he would wash his car a lot, he seemed to love his car and he even washed it in the rain last week," said Robinson.

Donald Wilson was found in this ditch in a remote area off Wood Loop and Nuckols Road in Fort Mitchell, Alabama. 

Andrew and Veronica Green live a few houses down from the Wilsons.  They told me the couple pretty much stayed to themselves... but claim everyone in the neighborhood were concerned about the Wilson's pit bulls.

"I would wave at him in passing but never had a conversation with them or anything like that. I petted their dogs once when they were in the front yard...but I was concerned about them staying in the heat. They would cry, a lot of neighbors were concerned. "

We saw a detective bring out what appeared to be a men's black army uniform.

Investigators also went door to door, talking to neighbors about a crime that's left a neighborhood in shock.

The boyfriend, Travis Leonard, reportedly moved out of the couple's home about a month ago. 

Donald Wilson's car was found burning in a parking lot of a Phenix City apartment complex an hour after his body was discovered by a newspaper route worker.
