Gamecocks beat LSU in game 3 of series

BATON ROUGE, LA (WIS) -

Freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop hurled seven scoreless innings and combined with Adam Westmoreland and Tyler Webb for a six-hit shutout as 10th ranked South Carolina defeated second ranked LSU 4-0 Sunday.

The win wrapped up a three-game SEC series at Alex Box Stadium.  The Gamecocks improve to 33-12 and 13-8 in the SEC with LSU now 39-6 and 16-5 in league play.

Wynkoop scattered five hits with no walks while striking out a batter.  He is 6-2 on the year. 

Westmoreland hurled 0.2 scoreless innings with Webb pitching 1.1 perfect innings of relief for his 14th save of the season. 

LSU starter Kurt McCune suffered the loss and is now 3-1 on the year.  He allowed three runs on six hits in 2.2 innings with two walks.

South Carolina is back in action at Carolina Stadium Friday night opening a three-game series with Vanderbilt.  First pitch is at 7 p.m. ET.
