Nate Ferrell delivered a game winning RBI single in the 7th inning of game two of Saturday's double header against Middle Georgia. The win snapped a 3 game losing streak to Middle Georgia but it wasn't without some interesting antics.
Middle Georgia coach Craig Young was thrown out of the game in the 5th inning after arguing a called ball 4. Young made a tense scene even more interesting by crouching down and gesturing to the ump exactly how to call strikes. All this in a game where Darton head coach Scot Hemmings says a Middle Georgia pitcher threw at Darton sophomore Davis Knapp.
"Absolutely. No doubt about it. I mean they throw the ball 10 feet behind him and that's the way the game is played. Their guy a little upset and then we came back and then honestly at the moment I didn't think it was the proper time to throw at him. It kind of fueled our fire and gave us a little bit momentum and their coach got tossed and then before you know it we got the momentum," said Hemmings.
Several of the Middle Georgia players were scene shouting back and forth with Darton's fans moments after the game.
Darton loss game one of the double header 4-1 and will try to lock up one of the top two playoff spots in its final series against Georgia Perimeter starting on Tuesday at home.
