TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

A couple of Tifton kids got a big surprise Friday when their father came home early from his deployment.

An Air Force Tech Sergeant drove more than four hours from Panama City Florida just to greet his two kids at G.O. Bailey Primary School after returning from Saudi Arabia.

The kids thought their mom was just reading a book about the military for the class, but had no idea their father was on his way to see them. Tech. Sergeant Angel Medina has been stationed in Saudi Arabia for the last six months, but returned home to Panama City two days ago.

On Friday, he drove hundreds of miles to surprise his seven year-old daughter and five year-old son at school.

"I always like to surprise them when I come home, every time I deploy," said Tech. Sgt. Angel Medina, Air Force.

His two kids couldn't be happier, and were inseparable once they saw their father for the first time since last October.

"I thought he wasn't coming until the 29th," said Kailey Medina, Angel's daughter.

The family has been keeping in touch through skype for several months, which was sometimes difficult.

"(We stayed in touch with) The Computer and the phone," said Kaden Medina, Angel's son.

"But sometimes the computer didn't work," said Kailey.

Now that he's in town, Medina and the kids have some catching up to do.

"Tonight, um...I'll probably take them out to dinner. And just spend more quality time with them. Usually a lot of the transition back, it just takes some time," he said.

And part of that transition involves catching up on some missed holidays.

Medina said he plans to take his kids down to Panama City with him this weekend, where he has another surprise planned for them.
