ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Freddie Mae Williams spoke to the news media today at Albany Police Headquarters.

Her son was murdered by gunshots. Herbert "June Bug" Williams died when he was removed from life support on April 22, ten days after he was shot multiple times on Albany's East Street.

Ms. Williams said that her son was loved in the community, and that he was a gentle person who did not deserve to have his life taken. She said that her family has had no peace since Herbert was shot, and it's been worse since he died.

She implored the community to come forward and tell what they know, or might have seen regarding Herbert Williams' murder, saying that her family needs some closure from this terrible ordeal.

"Oh, it hurt us all. We just can't get it off our minds. Why they did this? "June Bug," as good a person as he was...." she said.

Terry Mack was shot and killed the same night as Williams, just eight blocks away on Cone Street, but detectives don't believe the killings are connected.

Detectives say they invite any information from the public, and a reward could be offer for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the killer. Call Crimestoppers at 436-TIPS to leave an anonymous tip.
