ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Prom season is here, a time of excitement for teens and young adults, and often a time of worry for parents.

Rarely does a prom season go by that we don't deliver the traffic news of a young life cut short.

That's why we want to encourage all of you to do your part in making this a safe prom season.

Plan events for your teens and chaperone them to make sure there's no alcohol or drugs.

And please, make time to talk to your teen about the dangers of drinking and getting behind the wheel.

Talk to them about making sure their friends make good decisions.

Let's all look out for our kids and made sure prom season 2013 marks the passing of another school year and not the passing of another life.
