OMEGA, GA (WALB) -

Three men who are the subject of a manhunt in Southern Tift County, are believed to have been picked up by someone in a car, who helped them escape a massive manhunt.

Authorities are looking for the men who fired shots at a Colquitt County homeowner who caught them in the act of breaking into his home.

The crooks sped away toward Tift County, and wrecked near the intersection of Highway 319 and Eldorado Road near Omega.  Lawmen think they hid in the woods and called someone to come get them before bloodhounds from Lowndes County arrived.

WALB's Jim Wallace is with law enforcement on the Colquitt-Tift County line for more on the story. He says that officers from both Sheriff's Offices and the Secret Service are on scene.

At least one of the men is wearing blue jean shorts and a white shirt. The men have dreadlocks, and they are armed and dangerous.
