Toomer's Corner oak trees to be cut down

The Toomer's Corner oak trees are set to be removed on Tuesday morning. Plaques will be made from the trees' wood that will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund.

The decision to remove the trees was made by members of the university's Tree Preservation Committee after it was determined that the poisoned trees could not be revived.

Fans were able to roll the Toomer's Corner oak trees one last time on Saturday, April 20th following Auburn's annual A-Day game.

Fans say the removal of the trees will not put an end to the traditional rolling ritual.
